Letter from the President
I am very honored to serve as Chapter President for the Mobile Society for Human Resource Management (MSHRM) in Mobile, AL. I did not choose Human Resources as a 25-year career, it chose me and ignited a strong passion in me to work as honest and ethically as I could. As a native of Mobile, I take great pride in my city and making positive contributions to its health, spirit, and economic growth. I am equally committed to the employers that make up this strong growing community in Mobile.
I look forward to serving all Human Resource professionals over the next two years in this chapter and community. My goals during the two-year term is to work alongside our amazing Board of Directors and Officers to build a strong Human Resource community along the Gulf Coast that is willing to learn and grow together. We can build local “Employers of Choice” by sharing our experiences of success and challenges we face in our workplaces. Human Resource professionals should strive to be of service to each other in building this great region of exceptional places to work.
A strong network of Human Resource leaders can make a difference in a community, so our leadership team is working hard to build a solid network of professional opportunities for businesses that are aligned with our chapter. We have committed a strategic focus on all organizations especially those in the manufacturing and healthcare sectors. There are three areas of focus that will deliver value to our members.
- Education is a key element in the growth of our local organizations. The MSHRM chapter will enhance our learning experiences through value added webinars and opportunities for increased education in certification and recertification programs. Two important initiatives for the chapter are specific to growing, training, and retention of the workforce and strong leadership tools to assist in strategic planning in organizations.
- Membership growth is a strong focus for the MSHRM Chapter, but providing value to each member is equally as important. Every member of the MSHRM chapter should feel empowered to elevate their organization to a higher level once engaged with our sponsored events. We share a special love for our Human Resource students and developing their network and career opportunities. We believe every generation can bring diverse talents and skills to the Human Resource field. Building a diverse membership that will expand our ideas and value offerings is of high importance to our leadership team.
- Innovation and technology will continue to move our chapter forward as we grow. The MSHRM leadership team has committed to enhance the member experience with technology and ease of access to information. Technology will assist in offering more diverse meeting topics through webinars and will enhance the membership management tool through our new website launching late spring of 2020.
There are many exciting initiatives that have already taken place with the 2020 MSHRM Chapter leadership team since the beginning of 2020. The commitment to improve our position in the Human Resource community and elevate our service to our membership over the next two years will be impactful. We hope you will be a part of it!
