HR Manager
Teledyne Continental Motors is a leader in the
manufacture and supply of components for small
aircraft. We have an opening for the position of
HR Manager at our Division Headquarters
in Mobile, AL.
SUMMARY
Plans, directs and coordinates human resource management activities to
maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions
such as labor relations, personnel policies, recruitment and regulatory
compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
The incumbent retains the authority to discharge the responsibilities
required of this position. The VP of Human Resources may assign other
duties.
Under the direction of the VP of Human Resources, develops and
administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company
personnel. (Assists in keeping employees informed of all changes in
personnel policies). Counsels with employees on personnel policies and
personal problems.
Coordinates consistent proper interpretation and administration of the
Collective Bargaining Agreement. Confers and advises supervision on
labor relations matters. Meets with the local unions grievance
committee. Assists VP of HR with labor matters and records minutes of
meetings with International Union Officials, directs the preparation for
and represents the company in the grievance/arbitration process, union
officials meetings, contract negotiations and at other related meetings.
Assists in analyzing and preparing digest of all company and union
Collective Bargaining proposal.
Coordinates and participates with supervision in disciplinary and
termination proceedings.
Represents the company at personnel related hearings, investigations and
in resolution of employee related issues.
Prepares and maintains various statistical data on grievance and
arbitration issues; industry and area wage surveys; internal surveys and
studies; researches, analyzes and prepares reports and background data
to assist the VP of HR in labor and personnel related matters.
Serves as liaison in representing the company in dealings with legal
counsel and governmental agencies. Maintains good public relations
status with the various civic and welfare organization, local industry
and business people in the community regarding personnel functions.
Directs the internal and external promotional, recruitment and placement
activities of the company.
Develops and maintains affirmative action program; maintains other
records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
Work with Benefits/Pensions, Health & Safety & Training Managers to
facilitate all employee/ labor relations linkage items.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS. Specialized training in Employment Law, Labor Relations
and other related areas is desirable. Senior Professional in Human
Resources Certification and / or advanced degree is a plus. Direct
experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment.
Participation in union contract negotiations desired. Progressive HR
experience in a small to mid capitol ($100 to $500 million) business
environment desired.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree (B. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
